Tell us about yourself.

I was born in 1991 and I'm visual artist, living and working in Berlin.

Where did your passion for art begin?

In fact, I've always been interested in art. As a child, I drew a lot, painted a lot and made a lot of plasticine sculptures and I had the best grades in art classes. In order to develop and improve my workshop, I went to an art school where I graduated with a specialization in art fabric.

How would you describe your work to someone?

I always try to convey in my works what is currently in me, what I think about and what I struggle with. Although I use gay vintage pornography in most of my works, I try to give them a new meaning and form, more poetic, romantic, sensual, melancholic or life-like.

What are you currently working on?

A few weeks ago I moved to my first studio and I'm trying to organize my space and all the materials I have collected over the years. I hope the new place will help me create much more satisfactory art.

When you start a new work or project, do you plan what you’re going to create or do you improvise?

It depends. If I have a specific larger idea, I try to plan it well, noting down all ideas and sketches and returning to them after some time. However, I think I prefer to work quickly and more spontaneously, it seems to me that I create more satisfying works and compositions when I don't think too long what part of the photo should I cut out. It can be different with compositions. Sometimes, within a few minutes, I can say that all the elements fit together and I can proceed to gluing them, and other times I have to put the composition aside and come back to it after a few days or weeks and find the matching elements. I really like to create a series, several works at the same time. Then I see how each of the elements works together and moves to the next art work.

Can you highlight some of your influences and discuss how your influences have made an impact on you and your practice?

I really like the style from the 60s to the 80s and I use most of these materials. I found the old gay pornographic magazines to be brilliant and very thoughtfully designed. When it comes to artists that I value and who inspire me, I am sure it is Robert Mapplethorpe, Egon Schiele, Andy Warhol, Tom Bianchi, Nan Goldin, Arnulf Rainer, Hannah Höch, Peter Hujar - each and all together.

What are your plans for the remainder of this year?

Create and create. I want to start creating works in larger formats and mixed media art.
