Tell us about yourself.

Hello everyone, I'm Emanuele Tozzoli, born in 1989, artist, musician, lover of art and all forms of creative expression. I graduated as a sound engineer and I have a past as an electronic music producer.

Where did your passion for art begin?

My passion for art was born in the early years of my childhood, painting with my father who is also an artist, and playing to assemble small objects creating rudimentary sculptures. I have many memories with him looking for objects around our creations or painting and drawing together among his works and materials.

How would you describe your work to someone?

My work is the result of an instinctive and visceral workflow. I love bright colors and strong contrasts.

I often use a recurring symbology that recalls the world of childhood.

What are you currently working on?

As far as studio work is concerned, I'm currently working on several new sculptures, which I'm really passionate about in this period. As for the exhibitions, I'm preparing several events for the new year, there will be interesting news.

When you start a new work or project, do you plan what you're going to create or do you improvise?

Let's start from the fact that I love improvisation in any form of art. From my point of view it embodies the hypothetical purity of the authentic expressive form. Being my background as a musician this is also part of my way of conceiving creative elaboration. Improvisation helps me jot down new ideas, and it's great to go with the flow. Sometimes, however, I start with a more structured idea and then let myself be guided by fate only in the following parts.

Can you highlight some of your influences and discuss how your influences have made an impact on you and your practice?

I think my path has been constantly influenced by the events of my life, it is like a dense experiential network where each point influences all the others. Certainly music has greatly influenced my way of perceiving and conceiving pictorial art, the same can be said for sculpture and vice versa, even philosophy studies and the love for the colorful and informal world of childhood have certainly influenced the content part. As far as artistic influences are concerned, I cannot fail to mention some great classical masters of the past such as Michelangelo, Titian or Caravaggio. Regarding contemporary and post-war art, Picasso above all, without forgetting some greats such as DeKooning, Twombly or Basquiat, the truth is that it is impossible to mention them all. There are also so many great artists of our day!

What are your plans for the remainder of this year?

I want to spend as much time as possible creating sculptures and paintings in my new studio. I waited many months due to the renovations, but now we are finally here!
